Born in Lisbon in 1952. He has lived in Abrantes since he was 7 years old.
He studied at the Faculty of Arts at the University of Coimbra. Master in Contemporary Philosophy. He was a teacher at Escola Secundária Dr. Manuel Fernandes and at Escola Superior de Tecnologia de Abrantes.
He was part of ADEPRA-Association for the Defense and Study of the Heritage of the Abrantes Region, having been director of the periodical Abrantes: notebooks for the history of the municipality. In 1995 he was one of the founders of the cultural association Palha de Abrantes.
He is a member of the Abrantes Philosophy Club and the Abrantes Local History Study Center.
